Creative Reflection - Positive Expression
Reflex projects have been developed to address key issues facing young offenders through creative means.
Each project offers participants the chance to reflect on life issues using a creative tool which can then be used in building a platform for positive expression for the young offenders.
Participants work towards gaining an ASDAN Award through the ‘Chrysalis – Club 2000’ programme methodology.
The underlying purpose is to raise the self-esteem and achievement levels of young offenders so as to accredit their life and personal skills through the completion of short challenges. After the young people have started to re-engage there is a desire to improve and accredit their key skills to level 1, thus giving the opportunity to achieve a key skill qualification.
Projects are based around 3 key areas:
MY SELF – Personal challenges.
MY WORLD – Community, interpersonal or environmental challenges.
MY FUTURE – Life skills, careers or further education.
Participants completing the bronze award can then advance onto the silver challenge ASDAN award or a level 2 accredited course through the Open College Network.
"I have been very impressed by the positive impact that Reflex is having on young offenders throughout the country. Their pioneering projects have made a significant difference to the lives of many young people and for this reason I offer them my full support."
